TOMKIEL & TOMKIEL HELP A STUDENT EXPLORE GRANT
Exploration, travel and education are important ways for a person to become a responsible citizen and steward of our environment.
Tomkiel & Tomkiel believe that it is important for students to have the opportunity to explore our national parks, camp in the wilderness, and learn about the importance of preserving public lands. This year, we’re excited to offer the Help a Student Explore Grant. The winner of this grant will be awarded a $500 cash grant to be applied towards travel and exploration.
Nominations will be accepted through April 5, 2019. To nominate a deserving student please fill out the form below.
Congratulations to our 2019 Winner – Sarah Swain.
2019 Winner – Sarah Swain
My name is Sarah Swain, I am 18 years old. I was born in Florida, lived there until I was 9 and moved to West Virginia for 3 years, then New York for 4 years, and now Maine for the last two years. I go to college at University of Maine in Presque Isle. I will be starting my sophomore year in the Environmental Science and Sustainability degree program focusing on Geology. I have loved to study about rocks since I was 8 years old. It has been my passion to find interesting and unique rocks. I have been collecting them for just as long. My passion for finding more and exploring is never ending.
Sarah’s Reaction
“I was very excited and overwhelmed that I was able to receive this scholarship award. I plan on using the money to study geology at two national parks in Maine this summer that I have been wanting to explore: Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island.”
