Matthew Tomkiel is a third-generation attorney. His grandfather and father have represented injured workers since the 1970’s. Matthew has continued the family profession since 2003. Before that, Matthew worked in law firms throughout high school, college and law school. As an attorney, Matthew’s name appears on the letterhead of several firms where he is frequently asked to assist at trial and act as appellate counsel.
Matthew Tomkiel believes that the role of the plaintiff’s attorney is to guide the injured client through the civil justice system, which is a difficult and treacherous path. The insurance companies required to provide compensation to legitimate injury victims will do anything in their lawful power to delay or deny paying full fair and just compensation. Matthew Tomkiel publishes answers to common questions injured people may have about their case and how to avoid the common mistakes that insurance companies hope an injured person will make to reduce the value of their claim.
Matthew has been repeatedly elected a Super Lawyer by his peers since 2018. He has been named as a Top Attorney by Westchester Magazine every year since then. He is named as a Top Attorney in Metro New York on a list published by the New York Times. Matthew has the highest rating possible on AVVO. He received the ASLA Top 40 Under 40 Award in 2016 and the ASLA Top 100 Attorneys award in 2019. Matthew was named among the Top 10 Best Personal Injury Attorneys in New York in 2020 by the Best of the Best Attorneys List based on Client/Peer Reviews and independent third-party validation. Matthew was named by Hudson Valley Magazine in 2021 as a Top Lawyer based on peer selection. In 2021 the American Institute of Legal Counsel, an impartial third-party attorney rating organization, named Matthew as one of the 10 Best Personal Injury Attorneys for Client Satisfaction.
