How much will it cost to hire an attorney in New York for my brain injury?

In New York, the attorneys who handle personal injury cases, including brain injuries, take cases on what we call the contingency fee basis. This means that the injured victim does not pay any attorney’s fee, unless there’s a success in the case, a recovery of a sum of money and in that even the attorney takes a percentage of the recovery, usually one third, plus expenses. But the injured party does not have to put any money upfront, we do not even charge for consultation to discuss the case. Our firm, as well as many firms have a policy of no obligation, free consultation for the first interview and then if the case is accepted, the injured party pays nothing until the end, when the sum is recovered. If no sum is recovered, we have it on the basis that the injured party pays nothing and the attorney takes all the risk on that.
